Congratulations to everyone who represented Australia in the 5th Haidong Gumdo World Titles in Korea last weekend. Everyone held their own against strong competition from all over the world, and most importantly, were outstanding in terms of spirit, attitude and discipline.
The Aussie team as a whole did incredibly well, obtaining several silver and bronze medals, as well as the phenomenal achievement of being the first non-Korean association to take out the “Best Association” award. Very Well done!
From NSW we had Jacob (from Mountain Wolves) who made it through to the semi finals, coming second place in the foreign coloured-belt junior patterns division (the rest of the world competes separately to the Koreans throughout the prelims: first place then competes against the top three Koreans in the final round). Two NSW teams also made it to the semi-finals for sparring: Master Andrew and myself placed 3rd, while Rodney (Mountain Wolves) and Luke (Nepean Wolves) placed 4th out of around 30 sparring teams from all over the world.
A big thankyou to everyone who made this possible, and to all those who supported the Australian team and helped things run fluidly over there.
Congrats to all students who participated in the demonstration Grading on June 19 – feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. You guys were exceptionally strong, and all passed with flying colours! Congrats on such a tight performance, and on all the hard work that went into it.

Each demonstration will run for approximately 5 to 10 minutes, and consist of students showcasing their skills and abilities in order to attain their next grade.
It will be an exciting demonstration of Haidong Gumdo across all grade groups, including a demonstration from players representing Australia at the World Titles in Korea in July – anyone who is interested in watching such a martial arts display is more than welcome to attend!
